Kali Uchis Sin Miedo Review

Kali Uchis is an artist I have loved for a few years now. This year alone she has released a EP for her fans during the global pandemic and now having released her second official album Sin Miedo (del Amor y Otros Demonios) and yes it is in Spanish.

A lot of fans were having mixed feelings about it being in Spanish but I was here for it. Not only do I love how Kali embraces her latinidad but her music makes me love my own love for being Latina.

Her second album, means without fear (and love and other demons) and it still incorporates her unique sultry music style but at an elevated level.

Kali has served different vocal styles that I haven’t ears from her aside from her freestyle performance at fashion week in Milan for GCDS.

Her introlude alone transcends me into a dim smoke filled jazz club and makes me feel like I’m waiting to meet my man. It gives me Mr & Mrs Smith vibes when they first meet in the movie and it’s a vibe.

Her vocals are so angelic, soulful and give this Latin jazz sound that really makes this album a work of art.

Having featured collabs with PARTYNEXTDOOR, Rico Nasty, Jowell & Randy and Jhay Cortez show how versatile Kali can be with music. Her sense of writing and production of each song make it all blend together and compliment one another perfectly.

The music videos she has released for this album so far really bring the songs to life and in full Kali style of creativity.

Although this album is different as it is all in Spanish with a bit of Spanglish, I do feel that she sprinkled a bit of her unique style and aura of Isolation and Por Vida in the album where it be with the music or in the visuals for the album and songs.

My favorite songs might alternate with how I’m feeling and what vibe I am going with at the moment. At this moment, the intro la Luna enamorada and te pongo mal (préndelo) are my faves and really bring out the creative inspiration out of me as a dancer.

This whole album make me want to create some amazing visual concepts with dancers but COVID *sigh*

All I would want more from this album is more music video visuals for each song or maybe more old school perreo reggaeton vibes but that’d be asking for too much.

If you want a feel sultry romantic album that incorporates beautiful storytelling and a variety of genres in one, Sin Miedo (del Amor y Otros Demonios) might be for you.

BRB going to blast this and my Kali Uchis Playlist on repeat for the hundredth time!
